INTRODUCTION

Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia Bhd or SDIEM is part of the overseas subsidiary plant of Samsung SDI, Korea. It is located at Tuanku Jaafar Industrial Area, Sungai Gadut, Negeri Sembilan. The company manufactures small size Lithium Ion Battery or LIB, a secondary rechargeable battery used to power electrical products such as handphone, tab, computer notebook, e-bike and cordless power tools. It started operation in 2013 and within 3 years period, it had expanded her monthly production capacity to 40 million battery cells. Most of the cells produced are exported to various parts of the world. The plant is well equipped with innovated manufacturing system, high technology manufacturing process and rapid automation which are capable to produce cells of multiple models at fast speed with high efficiency.

Prior to manufacturing LIB, the same plant had been successfully producing cathode ray tube, an important display device used in TV and computer monitor for 22 years. It was known at that time as Samsung SDI Malaysia or SDIM before it transformed her business portfolio to LIB. Since establishment, the plant has been continuously generating economy benefits to the nation particularly to the Negeri Sembilan state besides providing job opportunities to the local community.
