WEBINAR - Thermophotovoltaic Cell

Place: DIGITAL PLATFORM - ZOOM | City: Seremban, Malaysia
SYNOPSIS WEBINAR
Thermophotovoltaic Cell - Converting Waste Heat into Electricity
Similar to solar cell, thermophotovoltaic (TPV) cell is able to convert radiated photons into electricity. In this talk, the speaker will briefly discuss the basic operating principles of a TPV cell and their differences compared to a solar cell.
Thermophotovoltaic systems use an energy source like concentrated sunlight or a stream of hot gas to heat a thermal material, which in turn emits low-energy infrared radiation. A specially engineered photovoltaic cell captures that radiation and converts it to electricity
The potential applications and future prospects of the TPV system will be discussed based on industrial waste heat and other heat-generating systems. In addition, the talk will also focus on the research activities, research outputs, and how the genetic algorithm is used for the characterization of TPV cells.
